Jürg Kihm AFA Director of Coaching — 20.04.2012

The Australian Floorball Association is pleased to confirm the appointment of Jürg Kihm to the newly created position of Director of Coaching for Australia and also a return to the role of National Women’s Coach.

The Director of Coaching position is aimed at Jürg identifying, developing and delivering a high performance program for individuals to work towards roles as State Coaches and potential future National Team coaches.

The AFA sees this as an exciting step in the development of the coaching program and believe that this will provide a number of future National and State team coaches who can then work with Jürg Kihm further to develop club coaches at all levels.

- On agreement for the new role that my main reason is to be back in an international coaching environment. I´m missing the international games and apart from loving Australia, Jürg Kihm comments on the AFA web page, and continues:

– I know pretty much exactly what I can expect and what not.  In any other country that all would have been new. Most important points for me are: that we have a great flow of communications from coaches to players but also from players to coaches. That we set up some good plans to have local coaches running as many sessions as possible. Last but not least that the players take their responsibilities and put all efforts into the campaign WFC 2013.

Jürg Kihm will be joined in this by Neil Anderes as the assistant coach and also Neil will help with the coaching development work. Neil is currently the head coach of Swiss Women´s League team, Zug United.

-After being a small part of Team Australia’s coaching staff @WFC2009 in Vasteras I didn´t have to think twice when Jürg asked me to help him preparing a new team for the WFC2013. That I know Jürg for a long time simplified the decision and will reduce the settling-in period to zero so we could actually start working right away, says Anderes.

With my 20+ years experience, specialized in the field of stick handling and technique among others, I think I can provide important bits towards the development of the players, coaches and finally to a successful campaign. I´m looking forward to this challenge and the fact, that I´m finally able to visit and work for this gorgeous country.

The AFA also thanked Andy Fenton and Chris Bojarski for making the commitment and giving their time to the National Women’s Team in 2011.
