Singapore to host World University Floorball Championships 2014 — 14.05.2012

The FISU Executive Committee has decided that the 2014 World University Floorball Championships (WUFC) will be played in Singapore.

This is the first time that a WUFC event is played outside Europe and the second time that Singapore will host major floorball championships.

- For the floorball sport within FISU this means a lot! We now have the chance to get a number of Asian countries participating in addition to the strong European teams, says Stefan Bergh, FISU Vice President and Chairman of the FISU Development Committee.

The IFF is also thrilled that the Singapore University Sports Council together with Singapore Floorball Association was granted to organise the 6th WUFC for both men and women.

- Singapore is one of the leading floorball countries in the Asian and Oceanian region and being a strong sport city with experience of hosting floorball events and the IFF strongly supported the WUFC 2014 to be played in Singapore. The evolution of the WUFC is also important also for the IFF in order to be able to strive for a place on the Summer Universiade, the IFF Secretary General, John Liljelund comments.

The proposed dated for the WUFC 2014 are June 11th - 15th 2014.
