Kristina Landgren Carestam, Sportsmanager in Pixbo Wallenstam, and former Head Coach of the Swedish women´s team is working hard to strengthen the team. After the introduction of a new, but very experienced, coaching staff, and a former Canadian Olympic athlete as their fitness trainer, there is now the announcement of a new player.

This time it is Amanda Mellberg, from Täby, who will join the team. Amanda has represented Sweden at both U19 and Adult level.

- It’s very exciting because everything will be new for me and It is my first time to leave home. I will have Sara Hjorting (Swedish national team goalkeeper) as a neighbour who I played with in Täby before so that feels good. I’m really looking forward to play with Pixbo Wallenstam for the forthcoming years and it’s a very good club who is taking good care and can develop the female players, said Amanda Mellberg is a press release.

As a player Amanda describes herself as an offensive defender who likes to be a part of the offensive attacks. - I have tried to be a forward and a center when I was younger but I have always returned to the role where I feel at home, the defender´s place.

Kristina Landegren Carestam is also very pleased to secure this transfer: – Amanda will, with her physical and offensive qualities, strengthen our team.

Last season, Pixbo Wallenstam came very close to reaching the final of the Swedish women´s series, even though they had finished 6th after the regular season games. In the Best-of-5 semi-final play-off series againt Kais Mora, Pixbo took a surprising two match lead, but Kais Mora proved too strong, winning the next three games to qualify for the final.

With all the new additions to the club it is clear that they do not want to experience the same disappointment again, and are looking even stronger for this coming season.
